Don and Sally Olin (pictured below) are the owners and operators of Partners In Care, a Charlotte elder care company. For the past three decades, Sally has been a registered nurse and Don has been a leader in the food brokerage industry. They have also been involved in a number of Charlotte-based non-profit organizations, including as board leaders of Opportunity Plus, an organization dedicated to skills training and career placement for people with disabilities. Following Don’s retirement from the food industry, Don and Sally found themselves in the challenging situation of caring for their ailing elder mothers in upstate New York from over 800 miles away. Neither parent wanted to move to a nursing home, but Don and Sally experienced difficulty in finding dependable in elder care. After falling in her home and remaining unfound for five hours, Don’s mother eventually transferred to a nursing home where her health steadily declined until her passing. This experience ultimately led Don and Sally to form their company, Partners In Care, providing personalized senior care for the elderly and those in need who wish to remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible. Their company is licensed by the State of North Carolina for in-home elder care services, and offers service in Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus and Rowan counties. Most recently, they have created an exciting alliance with the Charlotte chapter of the American Red Cross and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Library System, using Partners In Care employees to teach family caregiving classes to Charlotte-area citizens who are in similar situations to that which Don and Sally experienced with their own mothers.
